Showstoppers was founded in 2010 by owner and director Rachel Ray whose family’s heritage is steeped in a rich theatrical history. Her producer & director father Dick Ray, began his long career as a tap dancer and comic feed in his own father’s variety shows whilst her mother Peggy Ray, a jazz singer, enjoyed a colourful global career as a vocalist!
The family history dates back over 5 generations where they started out in Music Hall, pioneering the touring revue & taking large scale shows all around the UK theatres and Music Halls.
Naturally, as Rachel grew up, she followed in the family’s footsteps and performed in many aspects of the industry working front of house, backstage, appearing in live theatre such as pantos and plays and dancing in cabarets in the West End and abroad.
She also performed on cruise ships, worked in TV & film and performed as a vocalist all of which has equipped her with a wealth of experience from every corner of the business.
